Day 1

- Introduction to speed and velocity

Standards :  SP1.a The learner will calculate average velocity, instantaneous velocity, and acceleration in a given frame of reference.

SP1.b The learner will compare and contrast scalar and vector quantities.

SP1.c The learner will compare graphically and algebraically the relationships among position, velocity, acceleration, and time.

Objectives and review sheet

Graphing motion - Look on Smart board notes for the graph we made in class with the motion detector.

Day 2 -

Chunk #2-Acceleration and gravity

Day 1- Introduction to acceleration and gravity

Element: SP1.a

The learner will calculate average velocity, instantaneous velocity, and acceleration in a given frame of reference.

Element: SP1.b

The learner will compare and contrast scalar and vector quantities.

Element: SP1.c

The learner will compare graphically and algebraically the relationships among position, velocity, acceleration, and time.

Element: SP1.e

The learner will measure and calculate the magnitude of gravitational forces.

Acceleration Objectives

           vectors.

Day 1- Introduction to vectors and projectiles

Students will determine the height and the distance things will go given the launch speed and a degree above the ground.

Students will calculate the speed of a projectile at any given time during it's flight.
